How Android FRP behaves on Xiaomi devices

FRP is Android device protection, not the same thing as Xiaomi bootloader lock. The exact service path varies by model, software build and current boot mode.

Google device protection

Adding a Google Account and a screen lock enables Android device protection. After a protected factory reset, setup can require a Google Account previously synced to the device or the prior screen lock.

Recovery reset

Many Xiaomi phones provide Recovery mode and a Wipe Data option. A recovery reset erases local data; on a protected device it does not guarantee that Google ownership verification disappears.

Fastboot mode

Many Xiaomi phones can enter Fastboot with Power + Volume Down. Fastboot is a boot/service interface; entering Fastboot by itself does not remove FRP, and bootloader lock is a separate security control.

Recovery / Assistant availability

Identify the Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO device, connect it in the required mode and use XiaomiFRP Tool for the available authorized FRP service workflow.

Authorized service workflow

  1. Identify the exact model, codename and chipset.
  2. Detect the current interface: Android, Recovery, Sideload or Fastboot.
  3. Confirm ownership or service authorization before any reset or repair action.
  4. The tool reads the connected interface and displays device information used by the service workflow.
  5. After a reset, reconnect to the network and complete any owner/account verification requested by Android.

Factory reset and Wipe Data remove local apps, settings and personal files. Back up important data first whenever the device is accessible.
